Zion National Park’s Artists-in-Residence 2017 Selection
Four artists have been selected to serve as the Park’s Artists-in-Residence throughout the 2017 season. The artists were selected from a large pool of applicants in partnership with Southern Utah University.
Southern Utah University’s Outdoor Education Series
Southern Utah University is sponsoring a free Outdoor Education Series starting September 15 and running through December 8. The one-hour lecture series will highlight outdoor opportunities from experts in the field. The OES is every other Thursday at 11:30 a.m. in the SUU Sharwan Smith Student Center Living Room (unless otherwise noted).

Southern Utah University has partnered with Great Basin National Park to help preserve the night skies by building and operating the first research-grade telescope in a National Park. The observatory opened on August 25th as part of the National Park Service Centennial celebration.

The Dixie National Forest, Southwest Wildlife Foundation and Garth and Jerri Frehner Museum of Natural History at Southern Utah University with funding from National Geographic have partnered to host the first Cedar City BioBlitz at Cedar Canyon Nature Park August 26-27th.
University Wide Field Trip Celebrates the National Park Service Centennial
Southern Utah University will participate in the National Park Service Centennial on August 25 with an institutional wide effort, SUU Day in the Parks. The entire SUU community of students, faculty, and staff are invited to spend the centennial exploring the amazing parks and recreational areas surrounding campus.
