While the phrase “Christmas in the Desert” might conjure images of Snoopy’s cousin, Spike, wrapping a tumbleweed in lights, there’s plenty of holiday spirit to be found in the desert of Southern Utah!
Red Hills Desert Garden
375 East Red Hills Parkway, St George, UT
This interactive desert garden showcases water-efficient landscapes, endangered species, and prehistoric tracks in one central location in St. George, Utah. Bordering the Red Cliffs Conservation Area, this is a great spot to visit for an afternoon. Traverse the sandstone walls and rising formations of Red Cliffs. Then, before taking off, enjoy a walk through the paved gardens, complete with educational signs and species identification.
While St. George doesn’t exactly see the snowfall that some of their neighbors do (ie Brian Head Resort an hour and 1/2 away) this corner of southern Utah gets festive for the holiday season!
Every year the Red Hills Desert Garden is transformed into a winter wonderland with thousands of holiday lights and displays that are guaranteed to add a little sparkle to the season. The lights are on every night until 11 p.m. And Admission to the Garden is FREE.
